No conspiracy theories for me!
Everyday preceding the interview, I received strange phone calls and emails to cancel.
They did not allow the first speaker to talk. They knocked out all the technical members and partners. They knocked out the live TV broadcast to two million people. They knocked out 5,000 on Asante's Facebook. It was deliberate.
The first rule in any crisis is to stay calm which was what I did.
Gloria, I know you have left Christianity behind, but I am always guided by
Matthew 10:28:
Do not be afraid of those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. Rather, be afraid of the One who can destroy both soul and body in hell.

On the contrary, I believe that the
Zoom bombing was about something
else. They hated the idea of
vibrant interaction between
African and African American
scholars.

I am sure he knows the source of the Nile! No human being can endure a grueling 4 hour interview without slips of the tongue. In a written one, like that of Zeleza, he had multiple opportunities to revise and change his mind.
To keep the integrity of the Series, they don't see the questions ahead of time.
We were zoom-bombed multiple times, which shows that some people see his statements as too political and provocative for them to handle.

Subject: Re: USA Africa Dialogue Series - SUPERBIt is time fo Prof Asante to recognize that 85 percent of Nile Waters have flowed from the Ethiopian Blue Nile. About 15 percent derives from the Great Lakes. He should not marginalize one region at the expense of another.
That Nigerian scholars do not cite Ajayi seems incorrect. In fact he was stuck in a time warp there.
His overall point about the Eurocentric gaze remains accurate, however, and he eloquently made the point, brilliant scholar that he is.
I concur that the root of the problem is the Abrahamic religions. How can you admire Ancient Egypt when the Egyptians are painted as villains in mythology and elsewhere, or when you are asked to close your mind to logical thinking.
It is not only about Egypt. It is about
Nubia and pre-Aksumite and Aksumite Ethiopia and environs, too. What if
Nubia is the mother of Egypt - and
pre-Aksumite Ethiopia, the mother of Nubia and Egypt, as Pirenne seems to suggest.
African universities must have their
own journals and publishing outlets
and must be encouraged and insentivized to maintain credible standards in the process. All of us must guard against pouring old Eurocentric wine in new bottles.
I am happy to come across articles published by scholars on the continent when I search "google scholar."

Baba M.,
I noticed your spellbound focus at the Asante interview. I agree, his was an engaging four-hour marathon, among the best yet of the TF Interview series. Asante is the Malcolm-X of Afro-scholarship but with a focus that has always been consistent.
As for Mailafia, it is lamenting that the world has birthed a new order of disagreeing and being violently disagreeable, to borrow the words of MLK, Jr. Wasting lives to silence dissent is an application to an inevitable social rupture, the impact of which the trigger pullers would never foresee. Watch!
Oh yeah, you could not have met Asante before and your reasons are right on the money. Now, you've met him, thanks in no small part to TF's effort at global-villaging our intellectual world. May we have more treasures to unearth on this intellectual excavation.
Greetings,
The other Michael

OKON UYA'S "ROCKET FUEL" IGNITED.
ALSO THE PRESENCE OF HIS FRIEND, THE STEADY AND MEASURED, AFIGBO.
WONDERFUL.
DEATH OF MAILAFIA.
Obadiah Mailafia's death unbelievable, to be investigated -NCFront - Punch Newspapers
TERRIBLE JOLT. BUT THANKS FOR THE ANNOUNCEMENT.
HOW FORTUNATE WE WERE TO HEAR FROM HIM SO RECENTLY;
AND I WAS ABLE TO CONVEY MY WORDS OF APPRECIATION TO HIM.
WHICH HE APPRECIATED.
OH, MY FIELD OF DREAMS;
WE HAVE NOW ENOUGH CLOSE FOLK TO PROVIDE

MAY OM RIP, AT LEAST FOR A LITTLE TIME,
BEFORE HE RETURNS TO TAP US ON THE SHOULDER,
TO PROVIDE/ INFO/ GREAT ENERGY/ GUIDANCE/ KINDNESS AND GOOD SPIRITS.
WELL DONE, MY FRIEND.
A VERY GOOD CHOICE;
AND ARGUABLY THE BEST TF INTERVIEW YET.
WHY HAD I NOT MET ASANTE BEFORE?
HE GAVE THE REASON.
INSTITUTIONAL DOORS SHUT, MANY RESTRAINTS APPLIED,
AND ASANTE MONITORED BY CIA OR OTHER FED SPOOKS.
I ALWAYS REMEMBER, THE MI5-AUTHORISED STORY CIRCULATED
RE MY FRIEND, HAROLD SMITH, WHO CAUSED GG ROBERTSON AND OTHERS SOME BOTHER. (SEE ATTACHED ITEM)
IT SAID ANY SUCH ITEM SHOULD BE IGNORED. WHY?
BECAUSE, THEY SAID, "SMITH DID NOT EXIST.
HE WAS A FICTION."
OH MY.
SO BRIT FOLK WERE NOT TO BE PERMITTED TO KNOW THAT THERE WAS A
