USA Africa Dialogue Series - HOLDING ON

Oloruntoyin,

With the death of Obadiah Mailafia, 

And the Well of Despond Gaping wide, 

And threatening yet again to draw us down 

To that Terminal End that ever-beckons;  

For me it is necessary to reach out, 

Take to hand my Torch of Life 

And switch it on. 

First I see the repeats over the past millennia 

Of the Life Challenges we have faced and passed through 

During this new Era of (10,000+ years) Socially Organised Groups. 

Second I remind myself of the primacy of INCLUSION, 

And of the distance I have traveled to carry it forward 

In my own life.

Third, I think of the miracle brought to me via 

The material/ cognitive/ rational life that has been opened 

To us in very recent years—without it, and modern medical wonders, 

I would not be writing this to you now.  

Fourth, I am warmed and lifted by deeply-imprinted lessons 

That the Force of Spiritual Properties—those qualities elevated 

In the lives of Becket/ Gandhi/ ML King/ Mandela/ Assange  

And now Mailafia, and so many more of many Faiths and Philosophies

About whom I know little or nothing—are at last bringing steadily forward towards a re-integration with the Material/ Cognitive from which we were parted in time before we could clock. 

Fifth and of most vital importance; we have managed to create an instrumental process, CYBERNETICS, that can carry all of the above forward, on a worldwide basis, and at a speed limited only by our capacity to adapt and incorporate those elements. 

Simple? 

In concept yes. 

In practice no. 

"The good news is: there will be more Light and less Darkness in our lives. 

"And while this may see the dramatic toppling of hierarchies and regimes, this is not where we must look for the root-movement of lasting change into the Light of the Horizon Future. No. Tis in the word-thoughts of the 16th century polymath, Fra Giovanni, as he spoke of parallel Light in the human heart and conscience.

'No Heaven can come to us unless our hearts Find rest in it today.

'Take Heaven.

'No peace lies in the future which is not hidden In this present instant.

'Take Peace.’ 

"In his way, Fra Giovanni was speaking of the possibilities within man, striving, always striving for the conjoining of the essential and defining element of Light/ Inclusion—that of Man, with Mankind. In effect tis the root of the perfect constitution; that which must first be in the heart and mind of man, in order to attain the ideal envisaged. "Cybernetics provides us with the tools, superb instruments of huge capacity to make a start; that rough rudimentary beginning we are making now.” ( See, Vickers, On Wings of Light, pp.163-64.)
