i couldn't attend the interview, but would love to read it, following toyin f's strong recommendation.
it occurred to me that religious differences can result in either positive or negative results. the negative is something like boko haram which is intolerance. islamic, christian, traditional religions: which are better? the answer favoring the one over the other verges on intolerance.
but in all three one can take the model of the alafin as the positive one of finding good sides in every religious tradition.
i think when we teach the alafin's model ought to be the teaching model. show the students the wonders of each religion, celebrate it.

In essence, the Alaafin epitomizes Ali Mazrui's thesis of the triple heritage. The question, however, is this: how has the monarch utilized his "ecumenical" worldview to bring about confraternity among his people who are still divided along the religious line? Just curious!
