I hope you will assist me by making the USA-Africa Dialogue community aware of four tenured and tenure line positions at Georgetown University that may be of interest to African scholars and scholars of Africa. The first three searches are in the Edmund A Walsh School of Foreign Service; the last is in the Department of French, in Georgetown College.

1) African Anthropology

Please note: The closing date for this one has passed, but additional applications may be reviewed if submitted immediately.

The Edmund A. Walsh School of Foreign Service (SFS) at Georgetown University seeks to hire a sociocultural anthropologist who specializes in one or more countries or regions of Africa. The primary program affiliation for this position will be with the African Studies Program of the SFS. The position will be full-time tenure-line at the assistant professor level. Applications are invited from early-career anthropologists, as well as those who expect to complete their Ph.D. by the time of appointment. We are looking for a scholar with strong potential for achievement in scholarship, undergraduate teaching, and intellectual leadership.

2) Climate Change, Colonialism and Displacement

Georgetown University's School of Foreign Service invites applications for a Provost's Distinguished Faculty Fellow and tenure-line Assistant Professor position. We seek an interdisciplinary scholar who is working at the intersection of climate change, colonialism, and displacement. We seek scholars who broadly approach climate change in relation to colonial extraction and expropriation in the context of the Global South, and who use innovative methods to engage in scholarship on displacement and migration with attention to racialization and border regimes. Applicants are welcomed from a wide variety of disciplines and fields including, but not limited to, anthropology, geography, history, political science, sociology, science and technology studies, and environmental humanities.
