USA Africa Dialogue Series - London and our leaders:Fixing the living wage in Nigeria

NIGERIAN LEADERS   make London threre place for political meetings.then one would have thought they would also take time to survey london to see how london works.

I can conjecture that practically every household in london has drinkable water  and a Tolilet bowl which is number 6 of the uN sustainable  development goal.nearly 100 milion nigetians are exposed to contaminated water. Water is life! 40 milion Nigerian  defecating in the open. 

Then there is the the london  living wage which is about  10.50 pounds an hour not for the whole of UK because the standards of living are different.Nigeria cam learn from this

What is a living wage? According to the living wage foundation  " it is about the choices and opportunities  that you need to participate  in society"

This includes  having a hair  cut or hair dressing. I learn many men in nigeria  can no longer afford to visit the Barber  because it has become too expensive  for hhem

Nigeria needs to calculate  the living wage  for all her regions and then grow the economy   towards  paying the living wage. 

How do you calculate  living wage.? You use focus groups. Rich or poor who would agree on what is a minimum  standard  of living. For instance  you need to pay rent, have  nutritious meal s three square meals ,a smartphone,  transportation  fare ,ticket to the cinema etc from these  the minimum  wage is calculated. Nigeria can borrow from this rather  than putting forward arbitrary  figures as minimum  wage.
