The International Communication Association's (ICA) Ethnicity and Race in Communication division is organizing a professional development workshop for early career scholars focusing on the Africa region.
The workshop will take place on Friday October 21, 2022 at 11AM (Ghana Time)
Workshop Theme: Overcoming the hurdles of publishing: A workshop for early career scholars in media and communications
Program Description
Publication hurdles remain enormous burdens on many academics, especially for early-career scholars. The challenge appears more daunting to scholars from the global south, where multiple issues contribute to limited access to the publication process. Chief amongst these hurdles include mastering academic language for publishing, limited access to mentorship, and lack of funding for data collection and publication processing fees, among others. The Ethnicity and Race in Communication Division of ICA is organizing this workshop to offer a platform for experienced scholars to share their lifelong knowledge and perspectives on overcoming these hurdles for the greater good of the largely underrepresented early career scholars in the media and communications field.
