Poem; The Industrialist*
By Augustine Togonu-Bickersteth

In
Jalingo
I Drank tea
and ate
Toast bread
And the Tea
Boosted my
Brain
Such That I began to think
Not about drinking Tea
or taking toast
But about making things
I became an Industrialist
Thats me!
An Industrialist!
*
* Some historians are of the opinion
That the industrial revolution was
fuelled by Tea drinking. because Tea drinking
requires boiled water, and as such the people of Britain
Freed themselves from contaminated water by reason of
their passion for tea with the result that they lived longer
and became innovative and industrious.. Another version reported in the new scientist of october 25 2022, affirms that it might have been propelled by drought!
Chief Olusegun Obasanjo a famous farmer who it was told the world that Taraba state
Of which jalingo is capital has got a good climate for TEA cultivation
