Toyin,
Why do people poke their noses in spaces and intersections where they are unwelcome? If Baba Afe Babalola needed advice and counsel on how to give his money away, you will be the last earthling he will consult.
The Baba has done well. Posterity will rate him well. I rate him very well and he deserves popular unadulterated adulation for his philanthropy.
When you gather your own wealth and spend the excess on Nigerian or the subnational Bini systems, you will gain the love and praise of meddlesome interlopers who will criticize you for spending your hard-earned money.
Cheers.

Turning and turning in the widening gyre
The falcon cannot hear the falconer;
Things fall apart; the centre cannot hold;
Mere anarchy is loosed upon the world,
The blood-dimmed tide is loosed, and everywhere
The ceremony of innocence is drowned;
The best lack all conviction, while the worst
Are full of passionate intensity.

i wonder why Babalola is not investing at that level '' in knowledge. expertise, talent, skills ,competences on a long term'' in his own country where the investment is needed more.as for Aboyeji, i wonder if you are giving an example helpful to your stance.
Aboyeji is a Nigerian made entrepreneur, having done his university education in nigeria and started flutterwave and perhaps other knowledge enterprises for which he is known in nigeria.
i came to know aboyeji when he was an undergraduate through his comments on various online information platforms.
why not invest in nigerian systems to facilitate the creation of more Aboyejis in nigeria?
aboyeji attended what i understand is an expensive private university in nigeria, a jesuit university, if i recall correctly.
then youthful students of two US universities- harvard-bill gates of microsoft and zuckerberg, the founder of facebook; stanford-page and brin, the founders of google, filo and another person, founders of yahoo as well as elon musk, founder of space x and owner of tesla motors are responsible for much of what we know as the modern world and a significant degree of the future.
why those places?
why dont we try to cultivate such environments in our significantly impoverished land?thankstoyin--On Sat, 1 Apr 2023 at 21:23, 'Augustine Togonu-Bickersteth' via USA Africa Dialogue Series <usaafricadialogue@googlegroups.com> wrote:--African Chronicle of Wealth and Philanthropy volume 1 number 1 .April 1 2023
first my Book of the week: Charity and Philanthropy for Dummies
Chief Afe Babalola, Are Bamofin of Yoruba,father of Africa and wotlds greatest living lawyer made a staggering Donation of 10 million pounds to the world class and cutting edge, King college strand,London for the african transformation centre named after him.
afr babalola has com a long way from he times of sleeeping o banana leavs,to becomimg the secretary of the produce union up to the time of being a corresponding and extrnal student of the university of
london
some have criticised this donation saying charity begins at home.for instance some are saying the money could have gone to university and other institutions in ekiti his home base.
from the way i see , on second thoughts, philanthropy does not operate on the basis or thiking that charity begins at home otherwise bill gates would restric all his donations and interventions to usa where there a enough problems to attend to
.secondly what chief Afe bablola has done is to invest in knowledge. expertise, talent, skills ,competences on a long term, Knowledge not readily available in nigeria amd he is clerly on the same page as the youth and co founder of the Billion dollars start up, flutterwave ,Iyinola Aboyeji who has emphasised the importance of knowledge to starups rather than throwing money at problems
it clearly marks the difference between CHARITY and PJILANTHROPY in the best of traditions. this is pjilanthropy at its best. for maximum IMPACT #philanthropy
