Quotations, phrases, etc, should be interpreted within contexts. There is always a context.
Therefore, Bola Tinubu's "I owe you nothing" to Nyesom Wike should be interpreted within the context in which the comment was made.
What was the context?
Bola Tinubu as President-elect was invited by Governor Wike to commission over head bridges(flyovers) built by the state government on federal roads in Port Harcourt.
The over head bridges ideally should have been built by the federal government. The state government however built those bridges hoping to get refunded, as is the practice, by the federal government.
During the commissioning, the Rivers state governor made a comment that Rivers state people supported Tinubu in his presidential quest so that he(Tinubu) would refund them the funds expended in building the over head bridges.
The president-elect, mindful of his status and not willing to encumber his yet to be inaugurated Presidency, made the comment which have mostly been interpreted out of context on social media.
Thank you all for your time.
