Subject: USA Africa Dialogue Series - Re: Affirmative Action Replacement
Professor Agozino,
Apart from crying foul, what else are members of the Black Academe worldwide going to do about the US Supreme Court striking down Affirmative Action?
I imagine that there's a lot of sympathy for the current Affirmative Action policies in Nigeria, for mostly people of the (relatively speaking) educationally disadvantaged Muslim North. There are also some objections to those kinds of concessions being made in Nigeria, from various sections of the Nigerian intelligentsia, some of whom are also crying foul - that it's unfair, that they would much prefer a level playing field, the basis of their own imagined meritocracy -imagined or real…
Professor Harrow regrets that indeed lightning struck: "The supreme court just struck down biden's executive order reducing college loan repayments."
Biko, with the possible exception of legalising marijuana (your hobby horse) by "executive order", apart from "Biden-Harris should issue an Executive Order to Replace Affirmative Action with Reparative Justice", what else should Biden-Harris do to increase the number of Black folks who could consider voting for them (for Kamala Harris a heartbeat away from the White House, assuming that BIden-Harris win re-election, thus giving Kamala Harris the possibility of becoming the first ( black?) female President of the United States - God forbid, should her Uncle Joe accidentally trip or unexpectedly kick the bucket. With that in mind, I'm sure that Hillary Clinton is not going to vote for her, even if as dear Madeleine Albright warned," There is a special place in hell for women who don't help other women"
BTW, on the race front , Joe Biden's worst nightmare could be a repeat of the ongoing nightmare playing out all over Macron's France right now, caused by the brutal gunning down at point blank range of Nahel M who never meant him any harm…
The resultant looting and destruction by the angry rioters is running into billions of euros/dollars, a lesson that the business community would like to point out to the politicians, that police brutality is always going to prove to be very costly…
Just see how peaceful we are in Sweden: Under full police protection a Godforsaken Iraqi nutter by the name of Salwan Momika burns a copy of the Holy Quran outside the main mosque in Stockholm, and nothing happens.
Doing ditto outside the main mosque in Cairo, Kano, or Sokoto (of course not under state-funded, full police protection) the miscreant would have been decapitated on the spot or translated into the hereafter in a blaze of fire….
Biden-Harris should issue an Executive Order to Replace Affirmative Action with Reparative Justice for people of African descent and for Indigenous peoples. #ExecutiveOrdertoReplaceAffirmativeActionWithReparationsFortheEnslaved
