Thanks for doing this, Ojogbon Agba. You woke me up to a positive start. I have read this essay twice now, and I love it. This is putting a square peg in a square hole. I snugly agree with you in your characterization of Akin Ogundiran. Yours is a serious appraisal of a thorough-bred, sound intellectual with penchant for organic intellection. He is among the few who have literally and metaphorically spoken for us as a people in the Diaspora, and he has always spoken well and spoken right. I still recall, with great admiration, his call-in participation at the hackathon which our research group did at Cambridge University in the summer of last year. Professor Ogundiran's call-in changed the trajectory of the gathering and the ensuing conversations throughout the event. He was then at the site of the Old Oyo Empire in Oyo-Igboho, unearthing some of the most significant relics of our historical past. Besides, Akin is a complete gentleman. I can't wait to hangout with him at Northwestern very soon. I pray there be many more years of his salient contributions in broadening our horizon of knowledge.
