Subject: USA Africa Dialogue Series - "There will be wars and rumours of wars", and there will be coups and rumours of coups…
Here's a picture that could raise some questions about Godship - about God, buckling on some mortal flesh. The picture could also make some sensitive believers shed thousands of tears
My Better Half was watching the world news on Swedish TV early this afternoon when she called out to me to join her. For what, I wondered, probably Frontpage Magazine running on overdrive about my dear Trump being unceremoniously frog-walked under police escort to Magistrate Court Number One to face the music about what happened on the 6th of January, 2021, more than two years ago, to all of which charges, no matter how much dirt they throw at him, he will plead not guilty, hopefully, when it suits him a complete loss of memory, and as to what he said or did not say, is he not free to assert that without any duress and acting on conviction alone, as President of the United States, he was exercising his fundamental right to freedom of speech as guaranteed by The First Amendment of the American Constitution?
Likewise, from the top of my head, in no special order, I have often wondered, can't Chidi Anthony Opara and Bart Ehrman and his scholarly deliberations on the New Testament (so-called), and the Hon Minister Louis Farrakhan and his own iconoclastic deliberations on "The Synagogue of Satan" ( a term coined by St.Paul, Christianity's first theologian), can't all of these gentlemen likewise take umbrage under The First Amendment?
But then should all manner of evil such as Nazi propagandists be entitled to protection under any kind of amendment? The answer to that is, certainly not!
But, no, my Better Half was calling me over to watch Nigeria's Presidential Chief of Chiefs, His Excellency Bola Ahmed Adekunle Tinubu giving his maiden address on the Niger crisis.
As the saying goes, "Uneasy lies the head that wears a crown".
President Tinubu himself wouldn't like to be couped/ deposed by any Military, so, of course, in principle, the idea of saving his own skin must be his default position. But, in an unforeseen eventuality that he is couped - God forbid, would he like the ECOWAS nations to team up and go to war against the Nigerian Military in order to reinstall or re-instate him?
Once again, from a compassionate layman's point of view, whether it's Russia, Ukraine, Crimea, Niger or Nigeria, it's a matter of Solomon's Judgement / The Caucasian Chalk Circle.
The enemies of Africa, Niger, and Nigeria would like to see a big war erupt, engulfing the whole of the region, as a result of which BokoHaram among other regional forces would resurrect -like Jesus, in their case not to ascend to heaven but to create more mayhem down here on earth, to infiltrate and completely destabilise Nigeria to a point where there would be no end in sight - and Nigeria would be rendered even more ungovernable than before. So President Tinubu in particular had better be careful about any so-called " military option" and not think that the Wild West is sitting near the throne of the Almighty, and "damned is he" (Tinubu) if he does, and damned is he "Tinubu) if he does not - does not commit the Nigerian Military to go to war on behalf of France and the United States & Partners to reinstall their man in Niger, and just now, that's how the cookie crumbles
Yesterday, the main news item about the coup was that Nigeria had cut off the electricity supply to Niger, an announcement that must have left someone like Oluwatoyin Vincent Adepoju's head spinning out of control with this kind of question: " What!!?? You mean that down here in no man's land Lagos, the economic hub of the nation, we continue to suffer from an epileptic power supply so that some of us have to read by candlelight at night, whilst lo and behold, all this time, in the name of Northern Hegemony, the old regime (read, Fulani Buhari) has been supplying our share of the missing electricity to his brethren in Niger as if Niger and Nigeria are one and the same country?" Not only that, dear Adepoju, there's also a train track linking Kano State in Nigeria and Maradi in Niger Republic and methinks it's a good idea( just as MahatmaGandhi said about Western Civilisation, and how do you like that - that meaning peaceful relations between Nigeria and Niger, taking into consideration that we are all one people? And when we say " Africa Must Unite ", Africa = Africans?
Moving on to even more serious matters :
With the last couple of years initiating a new era of coups in Africa, is it any wonder that Sierra Leone's Julius Maada Bio himself a former coup plotter and once a second-in-command to Valentine Strasser who he later couped, should himself, with all without reason be held captive by what's usually diagnosed as paranoia, hence this latest headline: Sierra Leone: army officers detained
