I extend my condolences to the family of the late President Gottfried Geingob and the Republic of Namibia. As a peripheral member of the struggle for Namibian independence in the late 1970s, I worked with the late President Theo Ben Gurirab in New York for my doctoral dissertation. I was at the United Nations to interview him on South West Africa People's Organization (SWAPO) and the independence struggle after my return from SWAPO's Headquarters in London on a research trip on the topic. My dissertation was later published with the title: Liberating Namibia: The Long Diplomatic Struggle Between the United Nations and South Africa (2011), and was on Amazon Bestseller list on the history of Namibia. This volume is listed in the United Nations Juridical Yearbook 2011 as item 26–Non-self- Governing Territories.
His Excellency, the late President Gottfried Geingob, was one of the prominent figures in that long struggle for independence.
Again, my condolences to the family of the late President Geingob and my brothers and sisters of the Republic of Namibia!
