Dear Osakue Stevenson Omoera,
Congratulations! Your book, Audience Reception of Benin Cinema in Nigeria: Empirical Findings and Implications for Nollywood, was published on 2024-03-21. Here's where it is on our website: https://www.cambridgescholars.com/product/978-1-5275-5496-2
The first few weeks of publication are an important time for marketing and promotion. We will be working to make sure your book is in the hands of our international distribution and sales partners, and available on Amazon and elsewhere. To help us, we have created a Promotion Information Form (PIF). If you can complete it as fully as possible, that will help us to publicise your book.The link to the PIF is as follows https://www.cambridgescholars.com/uploads/sbpub_sub/home/Promotion%20Information%20Form.docx
In addition, here are some things you can do too:
1. Social Media. Love it or hate it, let's use it. Use the link to your book on our website, https://www.cambridgescholars.com/product/978-1-5275-5496-2/, and let everyone know about it. Tweet it. Facebook it. Instagram it. Put it on your LinkedIn profile. Make sure you follow us on all social media, and make sure you tag all mentions of your book back to us:
@CamScholars (Twitter);
@CambridgeScholarsPublishing (Facebook);
@cambridgescholarsofficial (Instagram);
www.linkedin.com/company/cambridgescholarspublishing/ (LinkedIn).
Social media is about volume and connections, so send lots of messages out, and link them all back to us.
2. Your personal website or blog (if you have one). Here's where you can tell people a bit more about your book - list out the table of contents, use a page from the introduction, or use the summary description. Make sure you post a link to your book and let us know so we can share the link too.
3. Your institution's library. If you teach or research, you need colleagues and students to be able to refer to your book, so please ask your librarian to add it to his or her acquisition list. Your institution can order your book with its handsome hardback cover direct from us or any major library supplier, or in wide-access eBook format. Please let us know if your library is going to stock it. If you, your library, or someone else at your institution is interested in buying multiple copies (more than 10), please let me know, and I will arrange a discount.
4. Course adoption and recommended reading. Getting a book on an adopted list as set reading or recommended reading for a course is great news. It means the chain of scholarly knowledge is extended and developed into the future, and will ensure that your book's citations are increased. Wouldn't it be great to see a book or article in the future which listed your book as something which influenced and shaped it? Are there any courses which might adopt your book?
5. Institutional news. People like to hear news about people they know, and people in their place of work, society or association. All universities and colleges, and all learned and professional societies, have newsletters, news sites and social media accounts, and they are always looking for interesting items to put in them. Get in touch with the PR/external relations people in your university, and any professional membership groups to which you belong, and let them know about your book. Send them the link to your book, and please make sure you, or they, let us know if it's published, so we can link to it as well.
6. Rights. We will explore translation rights on your behalf, but if you are ever approached for translation or distribution rights, please let us know. We will sometimes charge another publisher for these. As Author and copyright holder, you will be eligible for royalties on any translation or rights income received.
7. Your peer network. It's not just you who might benefit from a copy in your library. While we will be working through our network of distributors and sales agents, you will have already thought about your peer network - others in your field who are interested in this work. As such, please make sure you send information about your book to your peer network. Take a look back at your original Proposal Form to remind yourself of some names.
8. Reviews. Reviews in journals, society newsletters, and trade magazines, or just by influential people in the field, are a great way to reinforce the value of your book. Please complete the Reviews section on the PIF.
9. Author buyback. You are automatically eligible for a 40% discount on both your own title and all other books in our catalogue when purchasing through our website. To redeem this discount, simply enter the code AUTHOR40 in the designated discount box on the 'Order Confirmation' page once you have added books to the basket, and click 'Apply Discount Code'. You can then proceed through checkout as normal. If you are interested in purchasing multiple copies (10 or more), please contact me and I will explore a further discount.
Of course, we are always interested in ideas to help a book succeed. If you find something which is not on this list, please let me know.
I look forward to hearing from you. Please make sure you complete and return the Promotion Information Form with as much detail completed as you can.
Kind regards,
Tim Harvey
