The China-Africa Summit 2024 LIVE ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RnyMcZ1HgDE
Three questions to Emmanuel Ike Udogu, a seasoned Political Scientist and to P.L.O. Lumumba who has also been harping on Africa needing "honest and transformational leaders" -the presumption being either that we do not have honest leaders and "there is none ,that's righteous" or we have honest leaders - at least a few, but they are not " transformational" ( cannot or do not turn water into oil)
Assuming that they exist - potentially - how do we get an honest leader ? Could you care to name one or two honest leaders past or present that you possibly have in mind ?
Is it possible for an honest leader to emerge from the political climate that obtains in any of our major African countries today or must the democratic institutions in any given country first be strengthened before a serious leader can emerge from such a country ?
What do you think of the current leadership in Niger, Burkina Faso , Mali, Senegal , and e.g. Hakainde Hichilema, currently the President of Zambia
Opinion
We need honest and transformational leaders in Africa
As we have come to learn in the African experience, "Talk is Cheap." Honest leadership is what we need in Africa at this juncture of our development. We have sufficient natural resources and adequate human capital like China. So, why are we not doing as well as Beijing? In any case, to paraphrase the good book, "by their fruits we shall know them!"
Ike Udogu
