Dear all:

 

On January 13, 2025, we will be inaugurating the Annual Ayo Olukotun Memorial Lecture (poster attached). I have volunteered to be the first speaker. A suggestion is that the date for the subsequent event, from 2026, should coincide with his birthday in May. In addition, we will be inaugurating an annual prize in his honor, Ayo Olukotun Best Prize for a graduate student in International Relations/Political Science.

As both will be in perpetuity, the fund is deposited at Lead City University, where he served as a Professor and Dean. The initial fund to start the prize has been deposited. The first recipient in December will receive a prize of N100,000. As the fund grows, it will pay for the annual memorial lecture.

 

For the first one, the Chair of the Ceremony is the distinguished Olorunimbe Mamora. We cannot thank him enough for accepting.

 

The event on January 13, 2025 will comprise brief testimonies by family members, the Lecture, lunch for all students in attendance, lunch for all those in attendance. Beverages will be served, including palm wine, which is Ayo's favorite drink.
