A journey through the Gallery of Revelation, so named by me, of Bruce Onobrakpeya 's art and arts from various African cultures, at the Demas Nwoko designed gallery of the Onobrak Arts Centre, Agbarha- Otor, demonstrating the artist's unfolding of what may be understood as a cosmological, aesthetic and historical vision conjoining Urhobo, Edo, Yoruba and other African spiritual aesthetics with Christian aesthetics, all inimitably visualized by himself as an ecumenical universe in which the emergence of African approaches to spiritual reality develops in relation to rethinking the Christian message in terms both African and even transcendent of humanity.
An awesome variety of expressive techniques, of recondite shaping of forms through techniques both powerful and mysterious. projects something imaginatively delightful and awesome.
Video and narration by myself, Oluwatoyin Vincent Adepoju. May 2024.
Great thanks for the cooperation and encouragement of gallery curator Sunday Emazagbor.
