Festschrift in honour of
Prof. Dr. Monsignor Obiora Francis Ike at 70
Prof. Obiora Ike received his priestly formation and academic training at several institutions in Nigeria and abroad which include All Hallows Seminary, Onitsha; St John of the Cross Seminary, Nsukka; Bigard Memorial Seminary, Enugu, Nigeria; Collegium Cannisianum, Innsbruck, Austria; Leopold Franzens University, Innsbruck, Austria; University of London, England; University of Paris, Sorbonne, France; Centre For International Studies, Dubrovnik, Croatia; and the Rheinische Friedrich Wilhelms University, Bonn, Germany. He obtained his doctorate in 1985 from the Rheinische Friedrich Wilhelms University, Bonn, Germany. He is currently a Professor of Ethics and Intercultural Studies at the Godfrey Okoye University in Enugu State, Nigeria.
The impact of his scholarship cuts across the entire global community. The depth of his work, especially in the broad areas of Ethics, Intercultural Studies, Social Justice, Theology, Philosophy, Journalism, and International Diplomacy is attested to by his several past and current positions. At present, he is the Pro-Chancellor of the State University of Medical and Applied Sciences (SUMAS), Enugu State since 2023. An International Board Member of Globethics Geneva, Switzerland having served from May 2016 to December 2022 as its CEO. Prof Ike is also a member of the Board of VERITAS University Foundation, Abuja, under the Catholic Bishops Conference of Nigeria (CBCN). He is a member of the Board of Trustees of Godfrey Okoye University (GOU); the European Academy of Sciences and Arts (EASA); and the World Association of Arts and Science (WAAS). He is a former Pro-Chancellor of Plateau State University from 2021 to 2024. He has served for a decade as a member of the Governing Council of Enugu State University of Science and Technology (ESUT); University of Stellenbosch School of Business, Beleville, Capetown, South Africa. He has also chaired the Economic Advisory Committee of the Enugu State Government of Nigeria. In 2014, Prof Ike was appointed a member of the President Goodluck Jonathan-convoked Federal Government of Nigeria National Conference for the Review of the Constitution.
Prof Ike is the Founding Director of the Catholic Institute of Development, Justice, Peace and Caritas (CIDJAP) of the Catholic Diocese of Enugu, Enugu State, Nigeria, where he was also Vicar General for several years. He is a priest, teacher, scholar, writer, administrator, and professor with several years of teaching experience. He has presented more than ninety (90) papers in academic, religious, and professional fora locally and internationally. He has to his credit well over 22 peer-reviewed journal articles, 29 book chapters, and 18 books.
As a priest, scholar, and teacher, Prof Ike has taught and mentored many priests and students at Catholic Seminaries and Universities in Austria, Germany, the United States, and Nigeria. In all of these places and others not mentioned, he has contributed greatly to expanding the frontiers of knowledge.
A Festschrift in honour of this revered priest, scholar, diplomat, administrator, and gentleman as he clocks the Biblical milestone of 70 years is, therefore, only natural, expected and worthwhile. Indeed, such a rare gem needs to be celebrated in many ways not least a record of his academic footprints and his ideas in the form of a Festschrift. This Festschrift will no doubt afford authors the rare opportunity of contributing to the fields of interest of Prof Obiora Ike and thereby further expanding the dialogue of Prof Ike's areas of expertise and impact on society.

Please submit for consideration manuscripts between 5000-7000 words (MS Word only). The article should be typed using 12 font size, Times New Roman, 1.5 line spacing and properly edited and formatted. Tables should be well-labelled. AI-generated articles will not be accepted. Contributors should follow the latest editions of APA, Chicago & MLA referencing styles in preparing their manuscripts. Authors must be consistent with any of the chosen referencing style. Manuscripts will be peer-reviewed.
