There are supporters of many kinds of Liberation Organisations and separatist groups in Scandinavia, among other places. The former President of Finland Martti Ahtisaari was a good friend of Sam Nujoma ( S.W.A.P.O.)
Given that the trial wasn't held in camera, and also taking into account the publicity - at least in the Nigerian media, one can only marvel that the coverage of the trial is so scanty, the terrorism charge sounds so fuzzy, and the judgement, so very harsh …
I imagine that as a Finnish citizen, at most, Simon Ekpa may have made some ideologically incendiary Pro-Biafra statements, which could have been interpreted as the kind of incitement that is contrary to Finnish Law - but was any terrorist act committed in Finland at the direction or behest of Simon Ekpa? Can any terrorist act committed in Nigeria be directly or exclusively linked to Simon Ekpa?
