There is SOMETHING MISSING here fundamentally in Defense Minister Kayode's statement. What else is a Nigerian Gov's job if not a serious and strong " commitment to the development of the State as could be seen from his persistent insistence on the good of the State in Abuja."? Just because many Governors choose to serve themselves when they are voted into office should not mean that anyone doing his/her job should be deified. There are too many counter-intuitive aberrations in Obodo Nigeria. Wallahi! JUI (wondering what leadership means in Nigeria!)

| MINISTER OF DEFENCE ASKS ANAMBRA PEOPLE TO BE THANKFUL TO GOV. OBI The Minister of Defence, Mr. Adetukombo Kayode has appealed to the people of Anambra State to be thankful to Gov. Obi for his commitment to the development of the State as could be seen from his persistent insistence on the good of the State in Abuja. The Minister made this appeal at the weekend while laying the foundation stone of the perimeter fence of Onitsha military cantonment. The project followed approval of President Goodluck Jonathan to the requests by Governor Peter Obi for perimeter fence. Performing the ceremony, Mr. Kayode noted that the cordial and fruitful relationship between President Jonathan and Governor Obi is yielding a lot of people oriented dividends among which was an express order of the President to commence the perimeter fence project immediately. He noted that though the Governor does not belong to the political party at the centre, he has continued to attract priorities of the Federal Government. He assured that the project which will commence immediately and completed within ninety days. He also urged the State Government and the Army Engineers to ensure strict supervision of the project. Governor Obi, while thanking the President for prompt response to his request, recalled that he started appeal for the project several years ago with response from previous administrations noting that the project is important both to the State and to the Cantonment. He thanked the Federal Government for involving the State in the project and disclosed that the State Government will also execute some project in the Cantonment to compliment efforts of the Federal Government. Earlier, the General officer commanding the 82 Division, Major-General Muhammed Isah said the open Cantonment had continued to expose the troops and vital facilities to security risk and has remained a centre of controversy on allegation that it offered escape route to robbers and miscreants. He described the project as the fruit of Governor Obi's efforts and strong presentation to the President. In his remarks, the Commanding Officer, 14 Engineering Regiment, Colonel Mark Mamman thanked Governor Obi and President Jonathan for the project and their continued support and assured they will reciprocate by working assiduously in the interest of the country. We report it hot from the spot |
