Dear all,
A few hours before the Nigerian information Minister declared war on the
word "Naija", and before the American Oxford Dictionary adopted "refudiate"
- a word mistakenly created by Sarah Palin during the heated debate on the
mosque at Ground Zero, I had been pondering the status of words and how
their appearance and disappearance hinders or enriches our experience and
expression of life.
Maybe if we won't neglect the different ways of expressing ourselves, we'd
never run out of new ways to see the world. Here is the post:
http://www.ktravula.com/2010/11/saving-the-words/ preceded by a quote from
George Carlin: '*In your own words. Do you have your own words? Personally,
I'm using the ones everybody else has been using. Next time they tell you to
say something in your own words, say "Nigflot blorny quando floon."*'
Regards.
