Dear Prof.,
Tension was high this morning at some locations. I went out with
the Red cross to try to evacuate injured persons to health
facilities. Some of them elected to be treated outside plateau state
and we had to escort them to the nearest areas they felt safe.
Displaced persons, we were told were being hosted by neighbors as
they did not feel safe in worship places and public buildings. Silent
killings, I understand are still going on but I have no confirmation.
One good thing is that the intensity of the crisis is not like it was
in January and March when heavy arms and munitions were used, guns
are still used in some cases though. Jos is however a funny city;
while some areas were affected by the crisis of Saturday until
Monday, and livelihoods suspended; other areas are unaffected and
have been going on with their businesses.
I have been rendered unproductive since the fresh crisis of Saturday:
there is uncertainty hence I can not go to NESCO areas to get power
supply; I have to move out with Red Cross to assist injured victims;
power supply is zero, gas scarcity is getting worse. But life has
gone on and will go on.
Kind regards.
Sati
