The Honorable Aziz Mekouar
Ambassador of Morocco
Washington, DC
Dear Ambassador Mekouar:
Upon receiving credible reports of racist attacks on black Africans in Libya, the United States of Africa 2017 Project Taskforce calls on the government of Morocco to use its regional connections and end immediately the racially motivated killings in North Africa.
Morocco has a moral and humanitarian obligation to work with other regional governments and intervene to save the lives of besieged black African immigrant workers who have absolutely nothing to do with the uprising against Col. Ghaddafi.
Remind the anti-Ghaddafi forces and protesters that Arabs in sub-Saharan Africa have never been targeted due to their ethnicity. Unless these racist killings in Libya are stopped without further delay, the question for Africa will be whether or not Arabs belong in the African continent.
Morocco's continuing silence and inaction in the face of the homophobic, xenophobic and racist killings in Libya stand to be considered complicity on the part of the Moroccan state in the Arab racism and bloodshed.
Sincerely,
Bosire Mosi
Director of Communications
