Please assist with the petition on Mali. It's moving slowly--let's keeping trying--let's make another push with friends, family, students, co-workers, neighbors. We need education in this country to be engaged and not duped. We can do this--the situation in Mali is even worse.  At the end of Ramadan --in a few days-- the foreign extremists have declared that they will cut off hands, stone people and fully implement their illegal "Sharia" law. They are recruiting children in Mali to their cause. A young couple in the far north with two children was publicly stoned to death--women and children are especially vulnerable. The youth in Gao are valiantly sacrificing their lives to resist this occupation. We have 1591 signatures today --since July. 1591--the date the Moroccans marched across the Sahara and defeated the Songhoy Empire with superior weapons supplied by outside forces--the date that was the "watershed" moment in history because it opened the
continent to the trans-Atlantci slavery that brought our ancestors here. Let's stop this centuries old mass incarceration of African people. From floating prisons to peonage to private prisons. WE are the children of the Songhoy Empire then and today.
