The rays of the risen sun
Sneaked into my sleep chamber
Awaking me from slumber.
From the bush nearby
Snipers
Aimed at me in unison.
Fingers on triggers,
Squeeze,
Clicks.
Bullets landed
Lacerating louvres.
Unharmed
I muttered alleluia to Chukwu,
The snipers fled.
The old
Steps into the dusk of time.
The young
Steps into the dawn of time.
Death comes
When divinity dictates.
