UN Launches Drones in the Congo
Starting with the Congo, the use of drones in e.g. the Nigerian government's war against the Boko Haram could be the next stage. The only problem is, that right now there's already considerable "collateral damage" when the Nigerian military attacks Boko Haram strongholds and suspected hideouts – at least one massacre has been reported – and – in Pakistan where drones have been most used to attack the Taliban, drones have been known to be notorious for failing to distinguish between combatants and civilians and have tended to just kill just about everybody in the target area , the guilty and the innocent, without apology – and apologising doesn't resurrect any of the very many who have been thus killed by mistake.
Ludicrous as it may sound right now, should the Boko make some technological advance from rocket-propelled grenades to drones, well, it's difficult to finish a sentence that begins with such doomsday premonitions...
Calling for a national dialogue/ conference/ conversation is one thing - equally pressing now, is the need to dialogue/ conference/ converse with the representatives of Boko Haram and bear in mind that Boko Haram sympathisers are not confined to North-Eastern Nigeria where they have been mostly operating at the moment, as president Jonathan lamented quite a while ago, "They're everywhere"
