An African American uses crack, he gets to spend most of his/her productive days in prison (well until now). A white kid uses cocaine, he gets a slap on the wrist.
Our jails are filled with brown children who made serious mistakes. They are serving their time. The New York Times is not overly concerned about them. This young white man uses white collar crime to expose an entire nation to great harm, only heavens knows how many spies may have been executed on his account, and now we are begging for him to be "pardoned." What about all the brown warriors before his time who did similar but altruistic things to free us? Why should Snowden not face the firing squad? Why? Different strokes for different people!

ah, robeson.
the times might have improved over the years--i'm not sure. it was also liberal, in the sense of, just liberal, with all the limitations attached to that concept. robeson was far too disruptive and revolutionary for nyt's types.

I wonder whether The New York Times was similarly generous to one whose activities were more transformative to U.S. society than Snowden. That person is Paul Robeson.
