Ogor - Indeed. Igbo never know to play santa, in fact because it is not in their nature. They hardly play santa with their personal things, much less a public thing that does not belong to them. The reverse is the case since Igbo Igbo left Nigeria or was kicked out of Nigeria. Locusts descended on all things public in Nigeria and remains so to this very now.
There is no way Soludo could have given money to any Igbo thing - good or bad as did Father Christmas Sanusi. I recall Ngozi Iweala's first call, when certain Igbo wondered why she was not helpful to anything Igbo - structures and all. I knew she could not just like that, as a public servant. But she could only wink and nod and make things happen in her areas of interest - say Igbo land or Delta. Even that is certainly unethical - pure conflict of interest - something about which Nigerians are totally DUMB. But Ngozi did not wink and nod. Or did she?
Then came the Hausa lady that replaced her in the finance ministry - Nenadi or so. No do, no do, Nenadi bundled billions of naira to the north to support whatever it was...some project..that was happening there....just as Sanusi repeated his own donation of public funds to everything Kano.
I have often said that they were Igbo that checkmated excesses across the board in Nigeria; they saw something wrong or going wrong or about to go wrong, they waded in and stopped it. That was pre-war, yet such is innate in Igbo, in the gene.
Recall the auditor Obasanjo replaced once he took office, while he put the key to NNPC in his front pocket? The man was the national auditor or auditor general; he gave Obasanjo un-embellished

no corner cutting account of the fiscal state of Nigeria.
What did Obasanjo do? He fired the guy and replaced him with a Yoruba guy. The crude brute big thief did not want no Igbo doing a clean job for the country that might in the end indict him. But an indicted Obasanjo remains, till the rest of his life. I am reading a book that tells how way back Obasanjo began being a cow on Nigeria's back, and so Nigerians all. E nor begin today o.

Mr. Abba, he has done well in some aspect, especially in the risk management of our banking sector, which is/was his calling. However the fact remains, heavy corruption is hanging on his neck and in the face of the weighty allegations, I doubt if your ratings will stand a very transparent scrutiny devoid of ethno-religious sentiments.
Sanusi can perform better as EFCC (ie if proven not to have corruption tendencies) or FCT minister than as CBN governor. He has questions to answer period, any attempt to cover up his misdeeds is a disservice to a better Nigeria.
Peace!Sent from my BlackBerry wireless device from MTNFrom: Abba <abba2007@gmail.com>Sender: NigeriansnCanada@yahoogroups.comDate: Sat, 22 Feb 2014 15:57:08 -0600Subject: Re: NIGERIANSnCANADA | Central Bank: illegal suspension? My sister Joan,One simple way to measure SLS's accomplishments as our CBN supremo is to ans and answer the basic question: is the banking sector better up today than it was prior to Sanusi? The answer is quite obvious. A follow up question is whether or not the economy is better up (based on the sound fiscal policies of the Sanusi-led CBN or lack thereof) now than it was prior to Sanusi. Again, the answer is obvious. I am not saying any of these because Sanusi is a friend. I am saying this because it is true. Sanusi has served (and continues to serve) Nigeria superbly, fearlessly, courageously, purposefully, competently and patriotically. I rate him among our most finest public servants of all time....he is a compatriot and a friend i whom I am immensely well-pleased (and proud of). The PDP government has to do far better than cooking up unsubstantiated stories to attempt to justify their illegality. I am actually amazed that Nigerians seem not to be terribly shocked by the astronomical sum being corruptly siphoned out of the national coppers (as alleged by Sanusi).... in serious nations, everyone will be calling for a thorough independent investigation to get to the bottom of this colossal scandal (and demand guilty persons made to face the full force of the law). In serious nations, the President would have focused on getting to the bottom of the scandal, rather than embark on a witch-hunting jamboree against the courageous person who exposed the monumental scandal. What a nation we hail thee. What a people.AbbaAll you have to do is to compare the current state of the banking sector now (vis-a-vis international standards)

I resist the urge to valorize Sanusi Lamido Sanusi simply for being a whistle-blower. I am curious to know how his tenure as CBN governor improved the bottomline for the long-suffering Nigerian masses. There are serious allegations of sharp practices and slash and burn policies that have been levied against him, I hope the (ex) governor can address them. Ultimately, it is very possible for we, the people to simultaneously demand for accountability from GEJ, NNPC, and SLS/CBN.Saludos,jOo

First of all, let the government prove its case in a court of law (I am sure that's where the legality or lack thereof of this joke would be resolved). Second, has the government see it fit to hold people accountable for the whopping $20 billion or more currently unaccounted for in the NNPC budget.....of course, everyone should know that the reason this ``suspension" is effected is because the CBN Governor exposed this massive corruption (where such an astronomical sum is siphoned out of the national coppers with absolute impunity). Sanusi Lamido served (and continue to serve) the nation superbly....not only was he one of the finest CBN Governors we ever had (as clearly evident from the many banking reforms he spearheaded etc.), he remains among the extremely few public officials who would see a wrong and boldly expose it. In serious nations, people like Sanusi Lamido would have been applauded as heroes (for their courage and patriotism).... and not as the villain our good-for-nothing PDP government is trying (and they will woefully fail, when all is said and done) to make him. I am sure I speak on behalf of the vast majority of progressive Nigerians by giving a massive kudos to SLS, and for urging him to stay the course...and continue to be the rare shining light of competent, accountable, selfless and immensely-patriotic public service in a sea of near-total darkness (of corruption, corruption and more corruption). SLS, we are indeed very proud.

Is it illegal to suspend the Central Bank governor? Not really. Section 11(d) allows for the removal of the Governor if suspended from his or her professional obligations by a competent authority. Section 11(c) allows for his removal for Serious misconduct. Financial Reporting Council of Nigeria is the authority, and only the President can implement the recommendations. The fact of the matter is, the allegations are very serious, and the suspended Governor must address them publicly. The court order doesn't prevent the judiciary from executing its responsibilities. Does it?Perhaps, another perspective: the Central Bank has a strategic obligation to manage the welfare of the citizens. Any audit recommendation from the Financial Reporting Council should not be delayed. I think the suspended Governor should eschew public interviews, and seek consultations with legal specialists.Regards,Ohima Agans-Oliha
