Drama at the National Conference by Augustine Togonu-Bickersteth,London,England
What kind of Drama do we expect at the National Conference? We have heard of Christopher Okigbo"Being invited"surveying the crowd, finding there were no poets and subsequently boarding the next plane home..
We have heard of Political economist, Professor Claude Eke, in T shirt and Jeans, coming from no where, dazzling the crowd and going like that..Plane Crash,.
I have just learnt of Professor Esko Toyo ," thundering", saying he knows more economics than the IMF.
There has even been Kayode Soremekun, internationalist, now Professor, breezing into the venue of an international conference on Nuclear Energy, at Ile-ife, going Nuclear, and telling the participants at the conference that they had a knack for keeping their heads in the clouds, the participants, ruffled and eliciting some assurance from a certain Dr.Onwuka present at the conference, a senior colleague to Soremekun who himself had been involved in another Drama at the University of Ibadan.A skirmish
over his plagiarised publication,
Lastly there has been Ayodele Awojobi, Professor, mechanical engineering genius, activist and self taught economist, then known for his bow tie and suit but suprisingly
showing up in Fila and Agbada and snatching the the Microphone in the midst of a press briefing
