Dear colleagues,

The University of Illinois' Center for African Studies, Global Health Initiative, and University YMCA are organizing a Teach-In with the hopes of clarifying misconceptions about the Ebola virus and to inform the public about ongoing partnerships between the University of Illinois and the affected region. Experts from several different academic disciplines will participate in a panel discussion to provide facts and context about the recent Ebola Outbreak in West Africa.

There will be an opportunity for audience members to ask questions after the panelists' presentations. Information will also be provided on efforts being made to assist those countries hit hardest by the disease and to bring the outbreak to an end.

The Ebola and Global Health Teach-in event is this Thursday, September 18, from 4-5:30 pm. It is free to attend and open to all community members. If you cannot attend this event in person, it will be live streamed at go.illinois.edu/livestream.  Audience members viewing the live stream can also send questions to globalhealth@illinois.edu.

Sincerely,

Merle L. Bowen
Director, Center for African Studies
University of Illinois
