VC Aluko:

Many thanks for this useful information, especially the tabulated aspects. It is wonderful to know that WEAC, as a regional examining body, is still viable!

By the way, where is former WAEC boss, Registrar Chukuemeka Ike (or Eke), the novelist? I have recently read a lot about a younger 'Emeka Eke or Ike, who is part of the Nollywood phenomenon, but I know that the former WAEC Registrar  is too grey (or too old) to be hopping and jumping around in Hollywood or Nollywood acting circles. The older Ike (or Eke) played a noble role for WAEC, hence I wish to know where he is now?

Subject: USA Africa Dialogue Series - STAR INFORMATION: Synopsis of WAEC 2014 Results of Nigeria

September 3, 2014

My People:

The Tables below shows a preliminary analysis of the WAEC 2014 results for Nigeria from data recently presented by that testing body.  The candidate population, pass rate differences and gender gap are presented on a state- and geo-political basis, for the education of the reader.

There is clearly a participation and pass rate gap crisis in the North-East (pass rate less than 10%), and a gender gap in the North-West of Nigeria.  With a pass rate of above 50%, the South-East region is punching well above its weight, while Anambra's pass rate of 66% is truly commendable, all things being equal.

And there you have it.
