Brooklyn College seeks a nationally recognized scholar, journalist, writer and/or practitioner in one or more of the following fields: labor, education, health, urban politics, environment, criminal justice, racial equality, national security, immigration, and gender and LGBTQ justice.
The Belle Zeller professor will teach two classes per semester, mentor students, develop opportunities to enrich student learning in his/her area of expertise, and deliver one CUNY--wide lecture and one College lecture. All of these activities are designed to serve as catalysts for scholarly dialogue about national and international issues of social justice. The Belle Zeller professor also will share responsibility for committee and department assignments, performing administrative, supervisory, and other functions as may be assigned.
Scholars, practitioners, writers, or journalists who work in areas such as political science, history, urban geographies, international relations, race and ethnic studies, labor, gender studies, law and public policy are especially encouraged to apply.
QUALIFICATIONS
Ph.D. degree in area(s) of expertise or equivalent advanced degree. Record of excellence in scholarship, creative achievement or other outstanding policy leadership. A distinguished record of publication and leadership in related field(s) is essential. A record of teaching or working in a diverse, multicultural urban environment is preferred.
