I hope for more, for the transcendence of all systems of classification
that we have invented including pan-africanism but I realize in my
idealism that internal divisions within each system of classification are
as strong as the divisions between the systems. Yes, some would argue they
are inherently the same forms of discourse. If we entertain this
possibility, it will cause us to take a pause. There is much that ethnic
discourse can learn from race discourse.
