This is an absolute catastrophe. Losing any one of my books is like losing a very dear friend which I miss forever, and so comprehending the loss of a building of books is very saddening indeed. Some volumes and certain types of holdings can never be replaced; that is the nature of library holdings. However, this is perhaps an opportunity for the library to move further into the modern and digital age not only in terms of the holdings but also in terms of the systems put in place for their preservation and protection from disasters such as this.
An absolute catastrophe indeed.
