The elections taking place in several countries both in the West and in Africa have inaugurated a new era where professional politicians are no longer heard by the voters, the peoples.

This trend is observed in the USA with the election of Donald Trump but more importantly with the coming to power of Emmanuel Macron in France. He emerged out of all traditional political parties, surprising the key figures of the French political arena.

In Africa, the situation is sligthly different. Though businessmen like president Patrice Talon took the power in Benin republic, the election of Georges Weah in Liberia is another dimension of the insatisfaction of the people who experience hope that turn to be service undelivered by the democratically elected presidents. Nevertheless, the choice upon Weah is probably a second layer (election of a woman like Johnson Sirleaf being the first) of the result of the traumatic violence the country underwent. The future will tell if figures like Samuel Etoo and others will reach such a level, transforming Weah's election into a trend in African politics.
