What do you make of the translation of 'waka' as song? In this context, Waka Bature sounds more like the middle finger salute as in Waka Shege,

Sauran mutanen Hausa in mu tankara.
(The Igbos have started the agitations against colonial rule,
It remains for the Hausas to rise up.

25. Game kai muke yi don nufin korar su,
Jama 'a mu tashi mu dubi sa 'a ta zaka.
(We must cooperate to chase them out
Oh, people let us be awake for the signs of the hour.
