Unfortunately, teachers arming themselves is a recipe for harming teachers and probably harming children as well. For America that I know a little about, I can predict with near accuracy that if teachers were to start arming themselves, there is bound to be an upsurge trend in school violence - probably more teachers shooting teachers and school administrators or even shooting students. The solution, in my mind, is a transformation of the heart. And how do you get this to happen? The answer, my friend, is blowing in the wind.
And lest I forget, my deepest sympathy goes to the victims of the senseless murders in the "Bible Belt" of Tulsa, Oklahoma, and all around America of late! These are not foreign terrorists from other parts of the world. They are all home bred. As the 19th century American general, Oliver Perry, once said, "At last, we have met the enemy, and alas, that enemy is us!"

The attached story, is both sad and instructive; it seems that even Surgeons need to arm themselves
at work for self-defense!A.B.
