It is very hard for me not to thinkof wagner as one of the ugliest forms of modern colonialist practices in africa.
I think there are interesting a good, healthy debates over thepros andcons of china. It isn't benevolence with china, the phony propaganda, but the need to acquire valuable minerals and the rest. But it is an interesting exchange where we can see the benefices that china brings, which must be weighed against the continual depletion of african resources being sold off or exchanged at bargain rates, especially in places like the sahara, and the c.a.r. To russian mercenary monsters, but in e congo to a wide range of players, each exploiting the congo for billions of dollars, billions literally, of gold and other minerals.
When i last posted on this topic, i was chastised for not trusting africans to run their own affairs on their., that perverts the issue in two ways. Are we on this list not supposed to offer any criticisms of anything that any african government does? And can anyone seriously argue that a govt that came to power by a coup d'etat, as inmali, burkina, the c.a.r., chad, really represents the african people?? And that they should not be criticized for abusive practices??
The c.a.r. And now mali and burkina are countries where millions of people are displaced and suffering. Perhaps a serious argument might be made that the heavy, murderous hand of the wagner group, assisted by the national army, is needed to put down the various opposition forces tbat are at olay, although everyone knows the army and wwagner are killing the very people at risk because they are oppositions. But the predations and exploitation of resources by wagner go beyond that argument.
Can we weigh the pros and cons, seriously, or simply dismiss these arguments?
