President Buhari's 8 years tenure, according to the Constitution, is going to end on May 29, 2023, but his preparations towards leaving office is akin to the behaviour of the British Chief Clerks in the colonial administration of Nigeria when they were either going on vacation or recalled home to London. The British Chief Clerks of the 1950s used to deploy cunny tricks to prevent Nigerians from acting in their stead or replacing them permanently as Chief Clerk which they believed should be reserved only for the colonial masters. The phenomenon by which the colonial Chief Clerks subverted Nigerians from succeeding them in office was sarcastically characterised by the Yoruba in Lagos and Ibadan employed in the secretariats (as the administrative offices were then called) as - ÒYÌNBÓ NLO, O SU SI ÀGA - the white man is leaving, he defecates on the chair. The practical meaning of that characterisation was that the Whiteman did not want a Nigerian to take over from him. Like the British Chief Clerk of the colonial era in Nigeria, President Muhammadu Buhari would appear to be defecating on the presidential seat with his current naira redesign policy suffocating Nigerians to death. The Governor of Kano State, Abdullahi Ganduje x-rayed Buhari's behaviour this way, "Look at this person (Buhari), who had contested several times without winning (2003, 2007, 2011). No sooner than a merger took place (mainly between CPC and ACN), he won an election (a presidential election). After four years he got re-elected. Now he is going after his (8 years) tenure but there is nothing he (Buhari) is doing than to destroy the same party (APC) that helped him to power (to become President). Before probing further into the current Buhari's naira re-designed catastrophe I will like to draw reader's attention to the First Lady, Aisha Buhari, who alerted Nigerians already on October 14, 2016 about the hijack of Buhari's APC government by cabals.
In a BBC Hausa interview conducted by Naziru Mikailu with the First Lady, Aisha Buhari, and relayed on 14 October 2016, she said of her husband, "The President does not know 45 out of 50 of the people he appointed and I don't know them either despite being his wife of 27 years. People who never knew what APC promised the people, about APC manifesto and what was campaigned for are in the government. People are just sitting down in their houses, folding their arms only for them to be called to come and head an agency or a ministerial position. They don't have a mission or vision of APC, you understand what I mean?" The direct implication of what Aisha Buhari said was that the monkeys toiled for the APC and baboons took it over to feast on the fruits of the labour of the monkeys. On the basis of Mrs Aisha Buhari's interview, a Nigerian journalist Jaafar Jaafar published an article titled : The unaired Part of Mrs Buhari's Interview whereby he listed baboons in the APC government of Buhari. The most influential person in the presidency at that time was the late Abba Kyari, the Chief of Staff to President Buhari. Pertaining to Kyari, Jaafar wrote in October 2016, "The present Chief of Staff to the President, Abba Kyari, was appointed by the former President Goodluck Jonathan as a member of the Ribadu-led Petroleum Revenue Task Force in 2012. A year earlier (2011), Kyari had turned down Buhari's offer to serve as the Secretary of one of the CPC presidential campaign committees." When Ibrahim Magu of the EFCC refused to let off the hook against crude oil looters and fuel subsidy scammers, Abba Kyari led cabals saw to it that the Senate did not confirm him as the substantive Chairman of the EFCC. It was through the influence of Abba Kyari that Buhari retained Godwin Emefiele as Governor of Central Bank. Emefiele was appointed by President Jonathan to replace Lamido Sanusi who was accused of sympathising with the opposition party to the PDP.
After the demise of Abba Kyari, the Attorney General of the Federation and Federal Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami, became the leader of the cabals in the presidency. Before Abubakar Malami was appointed Attorney General and Federal Minister of Justice in 2015, he was unknown figure in the Nigerian legal circle. Although he was a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) before his appointment there was neither any record of important case he had handled nor any record his contribution to the development of law and legal profession in Nigeria. As implied by Aisha Buhari in her 14 October 2016 BBC interview, Abubakar Malami is one of the baboons that came to feed on what the APC monkeys had worked for. Going through his deeds as Attorney General of the Federation and Federal Minister of Justice one is tempted to believe that he got appointed not because of his knowledge or proven competence but because of his ethnic origin and religious faith. The means by which he succeeded in getting the Senate not to confirm Ibrahim Magu as substantive Chairman of EFCC and getting him suspended and removed by President Buhari exposed him as an intriguer possessed of a mindset given to lawlessness. Despite the fact that the EFCC Acts place the EFCC under the President, Malami claimed that Magu should report to him concerning the activities of the Agency so that he, Malami, might decide who to prosecute or not among Nigerian thieving public officials.
