King/Prof. Fuankem Achankeng to join the Panel Discussion on Coups in Africa, September 24, 2023
Fuankem Achankeng, PhD, Hubert H. Humphrey International Fellow, and a conflict scientist, is a ruler and a Professor at the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh. Before joining the faculty at the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh, Dr. Fuankem taught at Marian University (2002-2006), the University of Wisconsin Parkside (2005-2006), and the University of Wisconsin Fox Valley (1999-2004). He also served for a decade and a half as a senior official in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Cameroon. During those years, he founded the Association for Nonviolence in Cameroon (ASFON) and served as Executive Director (1993-1998). Professor Fuankem earned his B.A. (with First-Class honors) from the University of Benin, Benin City, Nigeria, a master's degree from the University of Buea and another master's from Antioch University, Yellow Springs, Ohio before his Ph.D. in the same field from Nova Southeastern University, Ft Lauderdale, Florida. His research interests encompass peace and conflict studies, postcolonial nationalism and conflict, nonviolence, identity, culture and conflict, human and people's rights, international mediation, and crisis intervention.
