I completely agree that what should be on the table is an agenda for good governance.

Dear Prof. Ibrahim,I am always worried about the Nigerian version of politics that is neither about clearly opposite ideas nor manifesto. One would have expected the opposition to be putting forward alternate solutions to what sitting governments are doing or even have a shadow cabinet for different government ministries and institutions. It is all about snatching power through manipulation of ethnic and religious sentiments. Does anyone have a manifesto or programme for real development?I had of course to ask in a chat group what manner of men and women are in the Nigerian National assembly where ALL THE PARTIES ARE REPRESENTED and we have no dissenting voices to turning universities to constituency projects. This is in a situation of unavailability of funding for the existing universities. The other thing that is worrisome is the attempt to "kill' the public (especially Federal Universities) like public primary and secondary schools, by making sure that there is no succession plan for many Departments through embargo on employment. If this embargo continues with only occasional, sparse and 'negotiated' employment in the next five years, many professors will retire without proteges. Our most brilliant students have joined the brain drain through "japa", others prefer other economic sectors for obvious reasons of starvation wages in the education sector and those that may have stayed cannot be employed because of the embargo. Where are the alternative ideas, ideals and futuristic development plans and strategies whether in the one-party state or multiparty state? or do we need a zero party state?Thank you.Babatunde JAIYEOBAE. As you explained, citing Lukman, the coalition's purpose is to unseat Tinubu. Sir, what should be the citizens' concerns about this? So, as of now, after all our traumas and agonies, the agenda of a coalition is not to put governance and development on the table. Nigeria has only one political party, TTP (Thief Thief Party).
I wish them well!
